King Alfred and the Somerset Levels
Better than a circular walk, this exploration of an area of the Somerset Levels traces the archaeological and historical evidence for King Alfred in Somerset, including where he is accused of burning the cakes! Short leisurely walks will link a number of sites including Alfred’s monument at Athelney, Aller church, the burhs of East Lyng and Langport and walking a section of the River Parrett trail to Muchelney Abbey.
